The Rauma area’s industry has significant news, as two major players in the region are intensifying their cooperation even further. Euroports Finland and Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, have signed a multi-year service agreement, under which the port operator will take care of handling the finished products of the world’s most modern sawmill, to be built in Rauma.

Euroports Rauma and Wallenius SOL AB shipping company will start cooperation from starting regular traffic from Rauma to Zeebrugge, Belgium. The cargo of the MV Transfighter consists mainly of forest industry products, which are transported to the Rauma port area by trucks and trains.

Mr. Janne Virta, engineer, eMBA, has been appointed the new Managing Director of Port of Rauma. Mr. Virta currently holds the position of Commercial Director at Euroports Finland Oy and will transfer to the new post at a date to be separately agreed on. Mr. Hannu Asumalahti, who is the Managing Director of Port of Rauma at present, will retire by the end of the year.

We believe Janne’s strong expertise will help us achieve this goal.”
